Course Overview

The Acellus Algebra I builds a strong foundation in algebra through twelve focused units. Students start by mastering expressions, equations, proportions, and percentages. They then solve inequalities and absolute value problems while learning to graph and interpret results.

The course introduces functions and linear equations, teaching students to analyze slope, rate of change, and real-world applications. Students solve systems of equations, apply exponential rules, and work with polynomials, factoring, and quadratics.

In later units, they simplify radicals, apply the Pythagorean theorem, and perform operations with rational expressions. The course wraps up with hands-on practice in statistics, probability, matrices, and combinatorics—equipping students with practical algebra skills and analytical thinking.

Algebra I Curriculum

By the end of Acellus Algebra I, students will have developed a solid foundation in algebraic concepts and problem-solving. They will be able to simplify and evaluate expressions, solve linear equations and inequalities—including those involving absolute value—and apply these skills to real-world scenarios involving proportions and percentages. Students will understand and graph functions, with a strong focus on linear relationships and their applications. Overall, students will emerge with strong algebra skills, critical thinking abilities, and readiness for higher-level math courses.
