Course Overview
Acellus Grade 3 Math builds the number sense and computational fluency that anchor all later mathematics. Students begin by representing, comparing, and ordering numbers up to 100,000, then develop rounding and estimation strategies and achieve fluency with multi-digit addition and subtraction. From there, the course introduces multiplication and division through equal groups, arrays, number lines, and fact families, with dedicated math fact practice woven throughout the year so that facts through 12 become fast and automatic. The second half of the course applies these skills across the full range of third-grade mathematics. Students connect multiplication to area, represent and compare fractions using models and number lines, and solve two-step problems with equations. They calculate perimeter, measure time, volume, mass, length, and temperature, display and interpret data in graphs and line plots, classify two- and three-dimensional shapes, and make informed decisions about earning, saving, spending, and borrowing money. Throughout the course, visual models such as strip diagrams, arrays, and number lines make concepts concrete, and word problems connect every skill to real-world situations. By the end of this course, students will be able to solve real-world problems involving place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, area, perimeter, measurement, data, geometry, and financial literacy with accuracy and reasoning.
