4th Grade Homeschool Program
Overview
Power Homeschool is a K-12 online homeschool program. Our elementary school curriculum focuses on engaging young learning through interesting videos and interactive coursework that ignites their curiosity. Our goal is to create excitement around learning that carries our students through the rest of their education and on into their adult lives.
Power Homeschool offers fourth grade courses in the core subjects as well as electives. Fourth grade is an important time in a child’s education as they become more independent learners and rely less on their parents for help with schoolwork. For this reason, we suggest that parents consult their students to see what electives they want to take.
4th Grade Homeschool Courses
To ensure that students are on track with their traditionally-schooled peers, we set clear learning objectives for all courses.
- Language Arts and Reading: Power Homeschool’s Grade 4 Language Arts and Reading courses build on student’s English literary skills, including reading, writing, and speaking. Fourth grade students will learn about different types of writing and literary works as well as further develop their grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
- Mathematics: In Grade 4 Math, students apply concepts they learn in earlier grades to increasingly complex problems, such as multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions, and decimals. Fourth graders also begin to study money, time, and various geometric principles.
- Science: Fourth grade students tend to be incredibly curious about the natural world around us. Our fourth grade science course aims to nurture this curiosity through the study of plants, animals, habitats, human body systems, and weather patterns. Students are also introduced to physics and technology.
- Social Studies: Grade 4 Social Studies focuses on regional landforms, climates, maps, and natural resources across the United States. The course also teaches students about the country’s government, history, and cultures.
4th Grade Homeschool Experience
Power Homeschool’s goal is to give each student a personal learning experience that lets them discover their individual interests and talents. Our curriculum uses the Acellus Learning Accelerator, which is designed for students to work at their own pace. They can progress through lessons as they master the concepts while spending extra time in areas they find challenging.
Our online homeschool courses are made up of video instruction, practice problems, reviews, and extra help videos. The videos that are integrated into the courses give students real-world examples that help them understand how the lessons can be incorporated into everyday life. Power Homeschool students can access all their course materials through the Acellus app with their student login.
Parent Involvement
Fourth grade students still require significant parent involvement. Because of this, Power Homeschool offers many different tools and resources for parents that let them better help their students.
Parents can view reports, track progress, and set goals through the parent portal on the Acellus app. The Live Monitor tool is a wonderful resource because it alerts parents when their students are struggling with lessons, so they can give them the assistance that they need.
